TOPLINE The Pentagon officially delivered three unclassified recordings Monday taken by Navy pilots of "unidentified ethereal peculiarities," a stage that comes following quite a while of progress towards government straightforwardness encompassing unidentified flying items.

The recordings, which were first distributed by the New York Times, show quick elongated items dashing through the sky and a pilot, in one video hollering, "Check out that thing, man — it's pivoting!" 

The Pentagon, which recently affirmed the veracity of the recordings in 2019, said it officially delivered the recording after a still up in the air the recordings don't uncover any delicate data and to "clear up any confusions by the general population on whether the recording that has been flowing was genuine," Sue Gough, a Defense Department representative, told CBS News. 

One of the recordings delivered shows an occurrence from 2004 in which Navy pilots experienced an item 40 feet in length drifting around 50 feet over the water, as per the New York Times; the two different recordings are from 2015 and show odd articles moving rapidly — one dashing over the water, another pivoting in mid air (the recordings were delivered after unapproved spills in 2007 and 2017, CBS News reports.)

The arrival of the recordings and the Times report on the encounters of the Navy pilots who experienced the items comes as government authorities have tried to research and loan more straightforwardness to the subject lately. 

Previous Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who tweeted on the side of the Pentagon delivering the recordings Monday, helped steer financing towards a $22 million program in 2007 to examine UFOs (in his tweet Monday Reid added that the recordings "just start to expose exploration and materials accessible.") 


Following the 2017 Times report, the Navy formalized a cycle permitting pilots to report experiences with ethereal peculiarities; in 2019, the Navy affirmed an uptick in UFO sightings.
