We asked NBC Bay Area Chief Meteorologist Jeff Ranieri to investigate and clarify. This is what he said:
"What you're checking out is an exemplary illustration of a lenticular cloud. These cloud shapes can frequently assume the presence of something out of a sci-fi film!
So what's going on here? All things considered, these mists are made when sodden, stable wind streams over a mountain or peak. At the point when the air disregards the mountain or rise, it consolidates, framing a cloud.
The breeze design then, at that point, packs the cloud, leaving it in this exceptionally uncommon and cool-looking level shape.
In this way, it may appear as though a UFO, yet it's really a lenticular cloud."
